Adding a dataset from your Snowflake connection

Everything is set up, you are ready to start importing your Snowflake tables as datasets in the inventory.

When starting your Talend Cloud Data Inventory trial, a Snowflake connection is automatically created. The Snowflake connection is a JDBC type connection and contains the information to connect to your datastore. From this connection, you will be able to retrieve several, or all the tables and views contained in one of your Snowflake databases, in a single operation.

A step-by-step menu opens to help you configure your first import.

About this task

You can add dataset from Snowflake on AWS, GCP, and Microsoft Azure.

  1. To start importing Snowflake tables and views as inventory datasets, click Let's go.
  2. From the Snowflake databases list, select the one containing the tables or views that you want to import and click Next.
You can also test this process with the PC_TALEND_DB database, a demo database with several tables to import as datasets.
  3. Use the search field and the Type drop-down list to explore the content of the database.
  4. Select the check boxes corresponding to the objects to import, and click Next.
  5. Select the check box corresponding to the warehouse to use for the import process.
The PC_TALEND_WH warehouse that has been created during the trial setup can be used for this purpose.
  6. To start the import process, click Nice work, go!.

Your tables and views are progressively retrieved and added to the Datasets list. The Talend Trust Score™ of each dataset is calculated when their samples becomes available. You are now ready to start looking into the details of your Snowflake datasets.
