Importing Hadoop metadata

Before connecting Talend Studio to the Hadoop cluster, it is a good practice to import Hadoop metadata using the wizard or manually.

Detailed information can be found in Setting up context-smart Hadoop connections.

This procedure shows how to import Hadoop metadata for Cloudera using the Import Wizard.

Procedure

  1. In the Repository tree view of your Studio, expand Metadata and then right-click Hadoop cluster.
  2. Select Create Hadoop cluster from the contextual menu to open the Hadoop Cluster Connection wizard.
  3. Fill in generic information about this connection, such as Name and Description and click Next to open the Hadoop Configuration Import Wizard window that allows you to select the manual or the automatic mode to configure the connection.
  4. Select Cloudera from the Distribution drop-down list and select the version you want to use from the Version drop-down list.
  5. Select the Retrieve configuration from Ambari or Cloudera option and then click Next to open the Cloudera Manager configuration window.
  6. Enter the Manager URI, click Connect, and then click Fetch.
