The Hierarchy View option allows you to navigate through a metadata tree via a browsing interface.
- Click BROWSE in the banner.
In the menu, select the type of metadata you wish to browse.
Type of metadata Description Database Metadata from databases, physical data models, and other data source technologies Data Modeling Metadata from data models Glossary Terms and categories from the business glossary Other specific technologies Such as business intelligence, data integration tools, or SQL script
- In the sub-menu, select Hierarchy View.
In the Hierarchy View panel, navigate through the
different metadata elements by expanding or contracting the tree nodes.
You can also click a metadata element to display its details page.For example, you want to display the Hierarchy View of the Database type.The metadata tree of the existing Database elements displays in the Database Hierarchy View panel. In this example, you can see the list contains two physical data models, called Staging DW PDM and Dimensional DW PDM and two databases, called Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.Expanding the tree nodes of the metadata tree allows you to have a hierarchical overview of the elements which form the databases. In this example, you can see the different elements and sub-elements contained in the Accounts Payable database, such as schemas, tables, or columns.
