EDI representation properties

Common properties

  • EDI type: Select the type of EDI document.
  • Segment delimiter: Enter the character used to separate segments.
  • Element delimiter: Enter the character used to separate elements.
  • Composite sub-element delimiter: Enter the character used to separate composite sub-element.
  • Repetition delimiter: Enter the character used to separate repeating elements.
  • Character encoding: Specify the character encoding for the data to be processed. For more information, see Character encoding.
  • Trim whitespace on input?: Select this check box to automatically remove any leading or trailing whitespace from the input data for all elements. The non-leading or trailing whitespace is not affected.
  • Pad to minimum length on output?: Select this check box to pad the output to the minimum size with either spaces (character) or zeros (binary).

X12 properties

  • Track X12 Sections: Select this check box to force the EDI Reader to contribute Sections to the execution status of a map. This allows you to retrieve these Sections after the map has executed. These Sections can be used to produce replies such as 999 and 977.

EDIFACT properties

  • Decimal character: Enter the character used to separate the integer part of a number from the fractional part.
  • Release character: Enter the character used to allow the use of a character that would otherwise be interpreted as a service character.
  • Include UNA segment: Select this check box to include the UNA segment defining special characters to use to interpret the remainder of the message.
