Creating a standard map

Create a new map and add the input and output structures.

Before you begin

You have created and input and an output structure.

Procedure

  1. In the Data Mapper tab of the Mapping perspective, right-click Maps in Hierarchical Mapper and click New > Map.
  2. In the wizard that opens, select Standard Map and click Next.
  3. Select a folder and enter a name for the map, then click Finish.
The map opens in the editor, you can now add the structures.
  4. Drag and drop the input structure from the Hierarchical Mapper to the left section of the editor and the output structure to the right section.
  5. Once you have added your structures, you can map elements by simply dragging and dropping an input element on the matching output element.

    Example

In this example, you can drag and drop b on y and c on z to map these elements. The looping expression on the X element is automatically configured.
For more complex mapping examples, see Configuring the mapping.
  6. Click the save button in the quick access toolbar to save your map.
