What is Talend Exchange?

Talend Exchange allows you to freely download and share products, such as components, routines, Joblets or processors, to be used within a Talend process, such as Jobs, Services, Routes and Pipelines.

Note: To learn how to import Talend Exchange product for your Talend services, see Downloading/uploading Talend Community components.

Talend partners or vendors can submit or contribute to a product via Talend Exchange for other users to download it.

There are two types of products available on Talend Exchange:
  • Talend Cloud Components: Products compatible with both Talend Studio and Talend Cloud (recommended by Talend). On Talend Exchange homepage, products that are compatible with Talend Cloud applications are marked with a Talend Cloud flag.

  • Talend Studio Add-ons: Products compatible only with Talend Studio.
The different steps required to create a product with Talend Exchange are as follows:
  1. Create a vendor
  2. Create a marketing plan
  3. Create a support plan
  4. Create a product (Cloud Component)
  5. Submit for approval and publish a product

Creating a vendor

About this task

A vendor is a company or an independent developer who wants to share a product on Talend Exchange. There are two types of vendors:
  • A corporate vendor is composed of several members from the same company who can add, modify or delete products.
  • A developer vendor is one member who can add, modify or delete products.

The vendor defines the marketing plan, support plan, and pricing plan associated to the product.

  1. Sign in using the button or create an account.

  2. Go to My Listings.

  3. Click Create vendor.

  4. Enter your vendor name.

  5. Select your vendor type.
  6. Enter a notification email address and a logo.
  7. Click .
  8. Enter a contact email address, your website, and a short description of your company (if corporate vendor) or of the developer (if developer vendor).

    Note: This is optional.
  9. Click .
  10. Enter a username and click to add a member to your vendor.
    Note: This step is only required if you select corporate vendor.

  11. Click .
  12. Check all the information is correct.
  13. Click to complete the creation of your vendor.

Creating a marketing plan

About this task

A marketing plan is a library of elements helping a company or developer to promote their products. As a vendor on Talend Exchange, you can create as many marketing plans as you need, and then attach it to any product or product category.

When you edit a marketing plan, all products attached to it are updated.

  1. Sign in using the button or create an account.

  2. Go to My Listings.

  3. Click the vendor to which you want to add a marketing plan.
  4. Click Marketing Plans.

  5. Click Create.
  6. Enter the name of your marketing plan.

  7. Select the category of products it applies to (for example Data Integration or Data Quality).
  8. Add a logo.
    Note: Tags are optional.
  9. Click .
  10. Enter a tag line and a short description of your product in the Product Overview section.

  11. Click .
  12. Click Add screenshot.
    Note: You can add screenshots of the products whenever you want. This step is optional.
  13. Click to upload a screenshot.

  14. Enter a title and a short description to your screenshot.
  15. Click to add the screenshot.
  16. Click .
  17. Describe what your product does and why people would want to use it in the Features and Benefits section.

  18. Click .
  19. Enter a resource label and URL to help users find information about your company or developer activities.

  20. Click . You can add as many resources as needed.
  21. Click .
  22. Check all the information is correct.
  23. Click to complete the creation of your marketing plan.

Creating a support plan

About this task

As a vendor, you provide support for the products published on Talend Exchange.
Note: Products added on Talend Exchange are not supported under any Talend support program or service.
You have to attach a support plan to all products on Talend Exchange. You can create as many support plans as you need and attach one to a product or product category. When you edit a support plan, all products attached to it are updated.
  1. Sign in using the button or create an account.

  2. Go to My Listings.

  3. Click the vendor to which you want to add a support plan.
  4. Click Support Plans.
