This section shows you how to retrieve SAP Business Content Extractors using the SAP metadata wizard.

Note: To retrieve any custom extractor, you need to first release it by adding its name into the SAP table ROOSATTR. This can be done using the SAP program RODPS_OS_EXPOSE whose transaction code is SE38. For more information, see Releasing Extractors for use by the ODP API.

Procedure

  1. In the Repository tree view, right-click the newly created SAP connection and select Retrieve Business Content Extractor from the contextual menu. The SAP BI Content Extractor wizard opens up.
Add new BI Content Extractor in connection dialog box.
  2. In the Name field, enter the filter condition for the SAP business content extractor name if needed. Then click Search and all extractors that meet the filter condition will be listed in the table.
  3. Select one or more extractors of interest by selecting the corresponding check boxes in the Name column. The extractors selected will finally be saved in the Repository and the extractors unselected will be removed from the Repository if they already exist in the Repository.
  4. Click Next to proceed to the next step.
Add new BI Content Extractor in connection dialog box.
All selected extractors are listed in the BI Content Extractor Name area. You can remove the extractor(s) you have already selected by clicking Remove BI Content Extractor.
Click Refresh BI Content Extractor and the latest schema will be displayed in the Current BI Content Extractor area.
Click Detailed Schema to open the schema dialog box and view the schema column details of the extractor.
  5. Click Finish. The extractors and their schema of interest will be saved in the SAP BI Content Extractor folder under the SAP connection node in the Repository tree view. You can now drag and drop any extractor node onto your Job design workspace as a tSAPODPInput component, with all metadata information automatically filled.
If you need to further edit an extractor, right-click the extractor and select Edit Business Content Extractor from the contextual menu to open this wizard again and make your modifications.
