Creating a Match Rule

Availability-noteDeprecated

About this task

To create a Match Rule, do the following:

Procedure

  1. In the MDM Repository tree view, right-click Match Rule and then select New from the contextual menu.
  2. In the New Match Rule wizard, enter a name for your Match Rule and any other relevant metadata, and then click Finish.
The Match Rule Editor opens in the workspace.
  3. In the Match and Survivor section, you can add a single rule or multiple rules.
To create a match rule with multiple rules, click the button in the upper right corner to add one new rule each time.
When a match rule has multiple rules, an OR match operation is conducted for them during the integrated matching process for each record to be matched. Data records are evaluated against the first rule and the records that match are not evaluated against the second rule and so on.
If needed, click the button to edit the names of those rules added within a match rule, and/or sort the rule order to determine which rule will be executed first.

Results

Information noteNote: You cannot deploy a Match Rule directly to the MDM Server. Rather, Match Rules are deployed along with the Data Model to which they are attached.
