About this task
By default, the
PII data class exists in the
Talend Cloud Data Catalog dictionary.
You need to configure this data class to be able to hide data by assigning
Highly Confidential sensitivity label. When applying this
data class, you identify a data asset as sensitive and its data is hidden
automatically from unauthorized users.
Procedure
-
In the search box, type in email columns.
The email_address columns from the ACME
customer hub database display in the search results.
-
On the toolbar, click Columns and select the
Grid view.
-
Drag and drop the Data Classifications column from
Available columns to Selected
columns to display it.
-
Verify that the PII data classification has been
assigned to the columns. If not, right-click the data classification, select
Edit and add the PII
value.
-
Open the details page of the anonymized_orders
table.
-
Click the Data Sample tab.
The
email_address column data is grayed out.
When previewing sample data from the
anonymized_orders table
without the Data Manager security role, data values of PII are replaced with a
string of # number signs.
Results
When the data class is approved, the sensitivity label is automatically approved and
applied.
You are ready to tag the table to indicate that it is compliant with the data
protection rules.
You can view hidden data only if you have been assigned an
object role with the Data Management capability.
