Note: Security Administrator and Custom roles will not be migrated from Talend Administration Center to Talend Cloud Management Console.

If a user already exists in Talend Cloud Management Console, all the roles (except custom roles) and groups of the same user in Talend Administration Center will be merged to this user in Talend Cloud Management Console. However, no personal data will be migrated. You can migrate users until you reach the maximum number of active users allowed by your Cloud license. After that, any remaining user in Talend Administration Center will not be migrated.

If you are a user of Talend Data Preparation, Talend Data Stewardship or Talend Dictionary Service, in case of multiple Talend Administration Center being migrated, only the first migration will allow users to keep their dataset and information in Talend Data Preparation/Talend Data Stewardship/Talend Dictionary Service. You need to migrate first the corresponding Talend Administration Center and Talend Data Preparation/Talend Data Stewardship/Talend Dictionary Service instances before migrating to Talend Cloud Management Console.
Note: It is recommended to register the Talend Administration Center PROD server first, as TCMP will use the Unique ID of users from the first added server.

If you use multiple licenses on Talend Administration Center, then all users need to be moved manually to one license which matches the Talend Cloud Management Console license before the migration. This applies to user groups too. For example, if you have both users of type Talend Data Integration and Talend Data Mapper from multiple licenses in Talend Administration Center, they all need to be updated to Talend Data Mapper if your Talend Cloud Management Console license is of type Talend Data Mapper.

After the migration, the user password needs to be reset, and the user login may also be changed. For example, the username is user@tdp.com in Talend Administration Center. When it is migrated to Talend Cloud Management Console, with a tenant dataprep.com, the user login will be changed to user@dataprep.com. If you have configured to send email invitation to migrated users, the users can follow the email to reset their password. If not, the administrator can reset password for migrated users.

In SSO cases, users don't need to be recreated on the SSO provider after the migration.

User groups

You can migrate all user groups from Talend Administration Center to Talend Cloud Management Console.

Projects

Note: Currently you can only migrate Data Management projects on the Git repository.

For each project, Talend Administration Center stores other details such as the project type, Git URL, and description. You can migrate the projects to Talend Cloud Management Console with these details.

Project authorizations

Along with the Git URL, Talend Cloud Management Console can also store the authorized users for a project. This is carried forward from the Project Authorization page in Talend Administration Center.

Reference projects

Currently reference projects are not available in Talend Cloud Management Console.

Licenses

The licensing is different for Talend Administration Center and Talend Cloud. The Subscription page in Talend Cloud Management Console gives details on your license type, available applications, and so on.

Backup

With the on-premises application, you should back up data regularly. Talend Administration Center offers options to back up or even schedule the backup of its databases. With the Talend Cloud applications, the backup is performed by Talend as part of the services. The backup strategy depends on the license.

Artifact Repository

In Talend Administration Center, artifact repositories are used to store the binaries and third-party libraries needed by Talend Studio. In Talend Cloud Management Console, artifact repositories are used to store only the third-party libraries needed by Talend Studio to design or run a particular Artifact. Therefore, the artifact repository is managed by Talend as part of its services.

Job Conductor/Plan

Currently, the execution plans from Talend Administration Center and the Jobs scheduled on the Job Conductor page cannot be migrated to Talend Cloud Management Console. However, Talend Cloud Management Console offers two options:

  • Tasks allow the execution of individual Jobs.
  • Plans are similar to Talend Administration Center execution plans.

Monitoring task executions

Talend Cloud Management Console provides monitoring capabilities, from inspecting a single task execution to viewing past executions or split executions by status for a given time period or on a given workspace.

From within Talend Cloud Management Console, you can monitor single executions to track down rejected records or find where the Job execution has failed.

For each execution, you can inspect the logs and download them as a .log file. You can also enable the automatic export of logs to your Amazon S3 bucket, which acts as your log repository.

The Task activities can be monitored on Operations page.
