Talend Cloud context parameters

Context parameters are parameters you can pass to the artifact at runtime by using context variables. Context variables are values you can change between different environments, for example, development and production, or you can change as your environment changes, such as passwords, ports and so on.

Once published on Talend Cloud, an artifact is associated with its logical entity, a Talend Cloud task, used to run this artifact with the set of context parameters defined in Talend Studio.

Talend Studio supports the use of context parameters in artifacts. Context parameters can be connection parameters, user-defined parameters, parameters which link to external resources (resource parameters) or artifact parameters that describe the artifacts.

In Talend Studio, you can:
  • create and centralize connection parameters in Repository > Contexts to be used across various artifacts. For further information, see Centralizing context variables in the Repository.
  • create user-defined parameters in the Contexts view of artifacts,
  • create resource parameters in the Contexts view of artifacts.
  • create and centralize artifact parameters in Repository > Contexts to be used across various artifacts. For further information, see Centralizing context variables in the Repository.

The names of context parameters follow strict naming conventions.

Information noteNote: Running Talend Studio artifacts from Talend Management Console is possible only if the context parameters values do not include double quotation marks ("").

You can import out-of-the-box standard artifacts with pre-configured context parameters in Talend Studio and use them to explore and experiment all key features of Talend Management Console.
