From the [User Manager] page, you can modify the user information and also assign them another role with more/fewer rights.

Prerequisite(s):

  • The MDM server is already launched.

  • You must be logged in as an administrator or a user who has Read & Write access to the Manage Users menu.

  • Make sure that you have selected the data container that holds the master data you want to give access to and the data model against which the master data will be validated. For further information, see Accessing data containers and data models.

Modifying user information

To modify user information, do the following:

  1. On the Menu panel, click Manage Users to open the [User Manager] page.

  2. Click a user record in the upper section of the page.

    This populates the fields with the user information and the role(s) assigned to them.

  3. Replace the existing text with the updated information.

  4. Select the Active check box to set the user status as active or clear it to set the status as inactive.

    When users are declared as active, they can access the data to which they would normally have access rights to. If their status is declared as inactive, then their access to all data will be blocked.

  5. If needed, click the Properties tab and update the properties of the user. For more information about how to configure dynamic properties of a user, see How to configure dynamic properties for a user.

  6. Click the Save button at the bottom left corner of the page.

    A pop up confirms that the user record has been saved.

  7. Click the OK button.

    The user record updates are saved.

Assigning a different role to a user

You can change the role(s) assigned to a specific user to attribute him/her another role with more/fewer rights or, for example, to give the user access to different data.

To attribute a different role to a user, do the following:

  1. On the Menu panel, click Manage Users to open the [User Manager] page.

  2. In the upper section of the page, click the user record to which you want to attribute a different role.

    The role(s) that is already assigned to the selected user shows in the Roles area.

  3. In the Roles area, select the role you want to change and then click Delete this role.

    The selected role is deleted from the list.

  4. Click the arrow to view a list of all the user roles created in Talend Studio.

  5. From the list, select the new role you want attribute to the selected user.

  6. Click Add this role to add the new role to the list of roles assigned to the selected user.

  7. Click the Save button at the bottom left corner.

    A pop-up confirms that your updates have been saved.

  8. Click OK.

    The selected user now has access to the data, according to the parameters associated with the new role attributed to him/her.
