Before you begin

You have downloaded Talend Dictionary Service 6.5.x.

  1. Stop your instance of Talend Dictionary Service 6.3.x or 6.4.x but keep MongoDB running.
  2. Backup your MongoDB, while it is still running, using the following command: mongodump -h <source_mongodb_host>:<source_mongo_port> -d <source_database> -u <source_mongodb_user> -p <source_mongodb_password> -o <dump_output>

    mongodump -h localhost:27017 -d dqdict -u dqdict-user -p duser -o dump\
  3. Stop your MongoDB instance.
  4. Install MongoDB 3.4.2 and start it.
Talend Dictionary Service 6.5.x uses the 3.4.2 version of MongoDB.
  5. Restore MongoDB, open a command prompt window and execute the following command: <mongo_path>/bin/mongorestore -h <mongo_host>:<mongo_port> -u <mongo_dq_username> -p <mongo_dq_password> -d <mongo_dq_database> <backup_location>

    mongorestore -h localhost:27017 -d dqdict -u dqdict-user -p duser dump\
  6. Install Talend Dictionary Service 6.5.x with the external MongoDB, and configure it with the same settings as your 6.3.x or 6.4.x instance, especially the links to your Talend Administration Center and point to MongoDB 3.4.2.
For more information about the Talend Dictionary Service installation and configuration procedures, see Installing and configuring Talend Dictionary Service.
  7. If you have performed any custom configuration to the 6.3.x or 6.4.x version of the <Tomcat>/conf/data-quality.properties file, update the 6.5.x version of the file by coping the values from the old configuration file.
  8. Start Talend Dictionary Service 6.5.x. by launching, in order:
    • Apache Zookeeper
    • Apache Kafka
    • Apache Tomcat (Talend Administration Center server and Talend Identity and Access Management server)
    • MongoDB
  9. Optional: Go to the <pathToTheInstallationFolder>/dq_dict/database/functionalMigration folder and execute the migration script corresponding to your system:
Previous Talend Dictionary Service version Operating System Script
    6.3.x Windows functionalMigrationFrom63.bat
    Linux functionalMigrationFrom63.sh
    6.4.x Windows functionalMigrationFrom64.bat
    Linux functionalMigrationFrom64.sh
The scripts functionalMigrationFrom63.bat and functionalMigrationFrom63.sh perform the following actions:
    • Create the PHONE compound semantic type, which groups FR_PHONE, US_PHONE, UK_PHONE and DE_PHONE semantic types
    • Create the NA_STATE compound semantic type, which groups US_STATE and CA_PROVINCE_TERRITORY semantic types
    • Create the NA_STATE_CODE compound semantic type, which groups the US_STATE_CODE and CA_PROVINCE_TERRITORY_CODE semantic types
    • Update the UK_PHONE semantic type

The scripts functionalMigrationFrom64.bat and functionalMigrationFrom64.sh update the UK_PHONE semantic type.

  10. When prompted, enter the login name and the password of a Talend Administration Center user:
    • This Talend Administration Center user type must be Data Quality.
    • This Talend Administration Center user must be a Talend Data Preparation user or a Talend Data Stewardship user.
