How do I hide Exchange in the studio

From within Talend Studio, users can connect to Talend Exchange by clicking the Exchange icon on the toolbar, or by using the Exchange folder under the Libraries node in the Profiling perspective. If for security reasons for example, you do not want the user to connect to Internet from within the Studio, you can remove the Exchange icon and node from the Studio.

This procedure applies to version 5.6.3 and later of the Studio.

Procedure

In order to hide the Exchange icon and folder in your Studio, set a VM argument as the following:

  1. In the root directory of your Studio, double-click the .ini file that has the same name as the file you use to open the studio.

For example, if you are on a win-x86_64 computer, open the Talend-Studio-win-x86_64.ini file.

  2. At the end of the file, add the VM argument: -Dtalend.hide.exchange=true .
  3. Save the file and restart your studio.

The Exchange node does not show under the Libraries node in the DQ Repository tree view, and the Exchange icon is removed from the Studio toolbar.

You can put the Exchange icon and folder back in the Studio if you change the VM argument to: -Dtalend.hide.exchange=false.
