From Talend Studio, you can create a connection to an SAP server and store this connection in the Metadata folder in the Repository tree view. Once connected to the SAP server, you can retrieve SAP tables and table schemas, preview data in tables, retrieve SAP RFC and BAPI functions and their input and output schemas, retrieve the metadata of the SAP BW Data Source, Data Store Object, InfoCube or InfoObject objects, or create a file from SAP IDoc.

Prerequisites:

To be able to use IDoc SAP connectors and the IDoc SAP wizard correctly, you must install specific jar and dll files validated and provided by SAP and then restart the Studio.

For 32-bit Windows, proceed as follows:

  1. Copy the dll files, namely librfc32.dll, sapjco3.dll and sapjcorfc.dll into the C:\WINDOWS\system32\ folder of the client workstation on which Talend Studio is installed.

    Note

    If you already have an older librfc32.dll and sapjcorfc.dll in the {windows-dir}\system32 directory, replace them with the ones that come with JCo.

  2. Install the jar files, namely sapjco.jar, sapjco3.jar and sapidoc3.jar in the Java library of Talend Studio. For more information on how to install libraries in Talend Studio, see the Talend Installation Guide

For 64-bit Windows, proceed as follows:

    If you are using 64-bit Java, copy the dll files into the C:\WINDOWS\system32\ folder.

    Note

  2. Install the jar files, namely sapjco.jar, sapjco3.jar and sapidoc3.jar in the Java library of Talend Studio. For more information on how to install libraries in Talend Studio, see the Talend Installation Guide.

For Linux, proceed as follows:

  1. Copy the appropriate distribution package (sapjco-linuxintel-x.x.x.tgz or sapjco-linuxintel-x.x.x.tar.Z, where x.x.x is the version of the SAP JCo) into an arbitrary directory {sapjco-install-path}.

  2. Change to the installation directory by typing:

    cd {sapjco-install-path}

  3. Extract the archive tar zxvf sapjco-linux*x.x.x.tgz, where x.x.x is the version of the SAP JCo.

  4. Add {sapjco-install-path} to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable, by typing :

    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH={sapjco-install-path}

  5. Finally, add {sapjco-install-path}/sapjco.jar in the Java library of Talend Studio. For more information on how to install libraries in Talend Studio, see the Talend Installation Guide.
