Talend Data Preparation

Before you begin

You have downloaded Talend Data Preparation 2.0.

Procedure

  1. Stop your instances of Talend Data Preparation 1.X and MongoDB.
  2. Backup your Talend Data Preparation 1.X installation folder.
  3. Install Talend Data Preparation 2.0 with an external MongoDB and configure the <Data_Preparation_Path>/config/application.properties for 2.0 with the following settings for MongoDB:
    Property Value
    mongodb.host localhost
    mongodb.port 27017
    mongodb.database dataprep
    mongodb.user dataprep-user
    mongodb.password dprep

These are the default values for the MongoDB properties. If you have made any change to these properties when using Talend Data Preparation 1.X, reapply the same changes to the 2.0 version of the <Data_Preparation_Path>/config/application.properties.

    Note:

It is not possible to have two instances of MongoDB on the same machine.

For more information about the installation and configuration procedures, see the Talend Installation Guide.

  4. To retrieve the content of the dataset storage folder used for Talend Data Preparation 1.X, and migrate it to version 2.0, complete the next step according to the your situation:
    • If you have never modified the value of the dataset.content.store.file.location property, copy the content of the <Data_Preparation_Path>\data\store\datasets\content folder used in 1.X, and paste it in the 2.0 installation folder, following the same path.
    • If you have set a custom value for the dataset.content.store.file.location property, make sure that you set the same value in the application.properties file for the 2.0 version.
  5. Start Talend Data Preparation 2.0.

Results

You are now ready to use Talend Data Preparation 2.0, but do not uninstall Talend Data Preparation 1.X because it would delete the folder containing MongoDB.
