The table below describes the different types of lineage that you can perform on a metadata element.
Icon Action Description
Trace Semantic Definition This semantic lineage allows you to discover what are the meanings of the report fields.
Trace Semantic Usage This semantic lineage allows you to see the usage of the semantic element, such as business glossary term, in the architecture.

You can discover what data element are semantically mapped in the data flow architecture and thus would be impacted by a change to the term or model element.

Show related business reports You can see the business reports that use fields which are semantically related to a particular semantic element, such as a business glossary term.
Trace Data Lineage This type of analysis applies upstream in the data flow. It refers to as a reverse lineage question, such as asking where the information comes from.
Trace Data Impact

This type of analysis applies downstream in the data flow. It refers to as a forward lineage question, such as asking what will be impacted by a change.
