Talend provides components that help numerous ways of interacting with SAP systems. You can use the various components to ensure the seamless information flow from an SAP system to another without the need for redundant data entry.

Most companies use SAP to run their business processes, such as accounting, sales, human resources, and payment processes. Although an SAP system is useful and powerful, its size and complexity may present challenges to companies planning to integrate it with other third-party systems. To learn more about how the SAP system works, refer to SAP architecture.

Advantages of integrating with Talend

Talend helps you integrate data between SAP systems and other business-critical applications and interacts with SAP interfaces to facilitate complicated data-related tasks. Using Talend components, you can connect to the Remote Function Call (RFC) protocol that SAP provides to establish communication between an SAP system and a third-party system.

With Talend, you can:
  • read data from an SAP environment, from Tables, BAPIs or IDocs, such as obtaining a partial data set for reuse in a third-party application
  • transform data from or to any supported SAP or non-SAP system, including performing data quality operations such as deduplication, or aggregation over heterogeneous SAP data environments or over data to be integrated into a SAP system
  • integrate data in any format, whether it comes from databases, binary files or flat files, and more.

Prerequisite

Before using the SAP components in Talend, ensure that you have installed the SAP Java Connector (JCO).
