Specifying another JVM to launch Talend Studio
It is possible to have more than one JVM installation on your machine and to use another JVM to launch Talend Studio for a particular purpose. This tutorial shows how to specify another JVM to launch Talend Studio under Windows and Linux systems.
This procedure applies to all versions of Talend Studio.
It is possible to specify another JVM to launch Talend Studio on Windows, as shown in the following toturial.
Here is a simple example of how you can specify the path of JRE under Windows. Let's say that the installation path of Talend Studio and Oracle JRE are as below:
- Talend Studio installation path: D:\talend\6.4.1\studio\Talend-Studio-win-x86_64,
- Oracle JRE installation path: E:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_111.
Create a .bat file: let's call it "studio_startup.bat" under the studio
installation directory and add the following contents in the file:
Talend-Studio-win-x86_64.exe -vm "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_111\bin"Warning: If you add a path that contains a space, make sure that the path is enclosed with quotation marks. Otherwise, you will see the following error message after clicking the .bat file:
Save the file and click on the .bat file to launch Talend Studio.
Tip: You can also launch the studio from the command prompt by opening the CMD window, changing to the studio install directory and executing the command below:D:\talend\6.4.1\studio\Talend-Studio-win-x86_64 -vm E:\app\Java\jre1.8.0_111\bin
On Unix or Linux

Let's say that the installation path of Talend Studio and Oracle JRE is as below:
