Talend Studio enables you to export all the workflows created in the BPM perspective which is part of the Studio or export the Repository items as needed in the MDM perspective.

Talend Studio enables you to import workflows either from bar files in the BPM perspective or from MDM server and zip files in the MDM perspective.

For more information on the different tools integrated in the Studio, see A comprehensive set of tools.

How to export workflow processes and applications in the BPM perspective

From the BPM perspective, you can export processes (.bos files) and application files for one or more designed workflows in order to import them into the MDM server.

Prerequisite(s): You have already connected to the MDM server from Talend Studio. At least one workflow exists.

To export one or more workflow processes and application files, do the following:

  1. In the BPM perspective, click the Diagram menu and select Export....

The [Export] dialog box appears. As shown in the dialog box, the selected files will be exported to a workspace archive file in the destination folder selected.

  2. Select the desired folder or create a new folder as needed. The selected folder name is displayed in the Destination path field.

  3. Click Finish. A progress bar appears, indicating the export progress. If the export succeeds, you may check the exported files in the destination folder.

Warning

When you export a workflow manually, you must delete bonita-client.jar in WEB-INF/lib in order not to have a classloader conflict between tem.ear and bonita.war.

How to export workflow processes in the MDM perspective

From Talend Studio you can export one or multiple workflows in order to exchange them between two different MDM servers or repositories.

Prerequisite(s): You have already connected to the MDM server from Talend Studio. At least one workflow exists.

In the MDM Repository tree view, right-click the Workflow node and select Export Items from the contextual menu.

The [Export Repository items] dialog box appears. The Workflow check box is selected by default.

To export one or multiple workflows into a folder:

  1. Select the Select root directory option and click the [...] button next to the option.

  2. A dialog box appears. Browse to where you want to save the workflows and click OK to close the dialog box.

The path to the target folder is shown in the field next to the selected option.

  3. In the [Export Repository items] dialog box, click Finish to validate your changes and close the dialog box.

A folder holding all workflows in the current MDM Repository is created in the specified directory.

To export one or multiple workflows into a zip file:

  1. Select the Select archive file option and click the [...] button next to the option.

  2. A dialog box appears. Browse to where you want to save the workflows, enter a name in the File name field and click Save to close the dialog box.

  3. In the [Export Repository items] dialog box, click Finish to validate your changes and close the dialog box.

An archive file holding all workflows in the current MDM Repository is created in the specified directory.

Note

If you want to export only one workflow of all those in the MDM Repository, expand Workflow in the [Export Repository items] dialog box and then select the check box next to the name of the workflow you want to export and proceed as usual.
