Preventing Talend Studio from hanging due to missing localhost definition

About this task

If you are using Talend 7.x, when launching Talend Studio, you may see the Fetching available tacokit configurations dialog box, which might block the startup of your Talend Studio for a long time.

When you run a Job locally, sometimes it may take around 30 seconds to start Job execution, without any Job execution statistics displayed on the console.

Such issues are caused by the lack of localhost definition on your machine, which might have been commented out in the hosts file, for example, by an update of your operating system.

 # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
 # 127.0.0.1 localhost
 # ::1 localhost

To resolve these issues:

Procedure

  1. Open the hosts file using a text editor:
    • For Linux/macOS: /etc/hosts
    • For Windows: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts
  2. Uncomment the localhost definition and save your changes.
  3. If needed, restart your computer to have your changes take effect.
