Talend Data Catalog
The following steps describe how to install and configure Talend Data Catalog using an external database.

Before you begin

  • You have received the email sent by Talend, including information for downloading Talend Data Catalog solution and requesting a license.

  • You have downloaded the TDC-x.y-YYYYMMDD.zip file on your machine.
  • Make sure your database complies with the version recommended in Compatible databases.
  • You have configured the database as described in Configuring Talend Data Catalog Database Server.

Procedure

  1. Unzip the TDC-x.y-YYYYMMDD.zip file where you want Talend Data Catalog to be installed.
You should avoid using the Program Files directories of Windows 7, 8.x and 10 as they are now controlled by Windows with special access rights.

Depending on your software installation directory, you may need Administrator privileges.

  2. In the software home directory, right-click the Setup.bat file and click Run as administrator.
You can also run this setup utility with the Windows command line, by using the start or call commands.
  3. Click Yes to allow the application to make changes to your device.
This setup utility allows you to setup the configuration parameters through the Metadata Management (MM) Setup dialog box, which displays on execution.
  4. In the Database Server tab, set up the parameters as follows and click the Configure button.
    Field Description
Enable Windows Service If selected, clear the check box. You should only select this check box if using the embedded PostgreSQL database.
  5. In the Application Server tab, leave the fields as default and click the Configure button.
    Field Description
Enable Windows Service The check box is automatically selected in order to create the Talend Data Catalog Application Server Windows Service.
  6. Close the dialog box.
