Specifying another JVM to launch Talend Studio

It is possible to have more than one JVM installation on your machine and to use another JVM to launch Talend Studio for a particular purpose. This tutorial shows how to specify another JVM to launch Talend Studio under Windows and Linux systems.

On Window

It is possible to specify another JVM to launch Talend Studio on Windows, as shown in the following toturial.

Here is a simple example of how you can specify the path of JRE under Windows. Let's say that the installation path of Talend Studio and Oracle JRE are as below:

  1. Create a .bat file: let's call it "studio_startup.bat" under the studio installation directory and add the following contents in the file:
    Talend-Studio-win-x86_64.exe -vm "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_111\bin"
Warning: If you add a path that contains a space, make sure that the path is enclosed with quotation marks. Otherwise, you will see the following error message after clicking the .bat file:
  2. Save the file and click on the .bat file to launch Talend Studio.
Tip: You can also launch the studio from command prompt opening the CMD window, CD into the studio install directory and executing the command below:
    D:\talend\6.4.1\studio\Talend-Studio-win-x86_64 -vm E:\app\Java\jre1.8.0_111\bin
