Creating a journal and journalizing a file

About this task

The sequence used for creating a journal and journalizing a file is as follows:

  1. Use the Talend Change Data Capture manager to journalize a non-AS/400 IBMi database.
In the main menu, select the Journal management option from the Source menu.
    The following window is displayed:
  2. Select the ADVENTURE database, then right-click and choose the Start DB journalization option from the context-sensitive menu. From the window that is displayed, you can choose the journal storage directory:
  3. On disk D, select the DD_JOURNAL\INST1 directory that you created during the installation. When the journalization is in progress, messages specifying the ongoing phase are displayed.
Information noteNote: When the task is complete, the icon displayed besides the database (ADVENTURE in the present case) is different. This means the journalization process is complete for Talend Change Data Capture.
To journalize one or more tables, select them in the list and then right-click to display the context-sensitive menu to choose the appropriate option.
  4. You can hold the transaction log capture by using the Hold check box
