Retrieving an SAP CDS view

About this task

This section shows you how to create an SAP CDS view metadata entry by retrieving information of an existing SAP CDS view using the SAP metadata wizard. This section assumes that the SAP connection and the SAP CDS views under the SAP connection already exist.

Information noteWarning: If you are working on a Git managed project while the Manual lock option is selected in Talend Administration Center, be sure to lock manually your connection in the Repository tree view before retrieving or updating table schemas for it. Otherwise the connection is read-only and the Finish button of the wizard is not operable. For more information about locking and unlocking a project item and on different lock types, see Working collaboratively on project items.

Procedure

  1. In the Repository tree view, right-click the SAP connection and select Retrieve SAP CDS View from the contextual menu. The SAP CDS View wizard dialog box opens up.
Right-click Retrieve SAP CDS View option from SAP Connection metadata.
SAP CDS View wizard dialog box.
  2. In the Name and Description fields, enter the filter condition for the SAP CDS view name or SAP CDS view description if needed and click Search.
All the SAP CDS views that meet the filter condition will be listed in the table.
  3. Select the SAP CDS view based on which the metadata entry is to be generated by selecting the corresponding check box in the Name column.
  4. Click Next to proceed to the next step.
The second page of the wizard appears, where the name of the SAP CDS view to be created is highlighted in the CDS View Name section; the fields of the SAP CDS view to be created are listed in the Fields table; and the parameters of the SAP CDS view to be created are listed in the Parameters table.
SAP CDS View wizard dialog box.
  5. Modify the settings of the fields and the parameters as needed and click Finish.
The SAP CDS view metadata entry is created under the SAP connection in the Repository tree view. You can now drag and drop the SAP CDS view metadata entry onto your Job design workspace to create a new tSAPTableInput component instance or onto an existing tELTSAPMap component instance in the Job design workspace to synchronize the CDS view parameters.
