Tracing a semantic usage

Identify where data, described by a term, is held and potentially accessible in data assets within the enterprise architecture. You can also discover what objects are semantically mapped in the data flow architecture and how a change in a term can impact these elements.

Before you begin

You have been assigned an object role with at least the Metadata Viewing capability.

Procedure

  1. Open the object page.
  2. Click the Semantic Flow tab.
  3. Select Usage from the Type list.
You can also select Both to trace the Usage as well as the Definition.
  4. Click the List tab to open the detailed column level lineage report.
For example, you need to identify the objects mapped to the Account Amount Available term.
  5. Click the Diagram tab to open a graphical report of the lineage.
In this example, the blue dashed lines represent the semantic links from the term to the objects.
