Importing a database connection from Talend Studio

If you have already created a database connection in Talend Studio, you can import this connection into Talend Data Mapper to generate structures and use this database in maps.

Information noteNote: This feature is available only if you have installed the R2023-02 Talend Studio monthly update or a later one delivered by Talend. For more information, check with your administrator.

Before you begin

  • You are using the non-Eclispe runtime. This feature is not supported by the old Eclipse-based runtime.
  • You have created a database connection in Talend Studio. For more information, see Setting up a database connection.
  • Your database is supported by Talend Data Mapper. For more information, see Working with databases.

Procedure

  1. In the Mapping perspective of Talend Studio, right-click Hierarchical Mapper > Databases and click New > Database.
The next steps are also available when you click New > Structure.
  2. Select Database From Studio and click Next.
  3. Select the database connection that you want to import and click OK, then click Next.
All database connections appear in the list, even if they are not supported by Talend Data Mapper. If you select an unsupported database, you will get an error message.
  4. Click Test Connection to make sure the connection works and click Next.
  5. Select the tables that you want to import and click Next.
  6. Select the folder in which you want to import the table structures and click Next, then click Finish.

Results

Your database connection has been created in Talend Data Mapper and the selected tables have been imported as structures.
