Setting up an artifact repository for sharing external modules in Talend Studio

You can set up an artifact repository to store third-party Java libraries and database drivers that are needed by Talend Studio. You can then retrieve these libraries from several instances of Talend Studio in a centralized way.

For more information about installing external modules in Talend Studio, see Installing external modules.

The following diagram describes the best practice architecture of the artifact repository.

Diagram that describes the Talend Studio libraries architecture.

To download and install specific third-party Java libraries or database drivers that are needed by Talend Studio, you need to connect to the artifact repository and its embedded repository. In this documentation, this embedded repository is named talend-custom-libs-release.

Setting up this architecture requires the following steps:
  1. Install an artifact repository based on Nexus or Artifactory, configure it as a local artifact repository, and log in its web interface.
  2. Configure the local artifact repository to connect to Talend Management Console. As a result, the installed libraries are shared automatically with all Talend Studio users.
