Specifying the limits of VM memory for a Job or Route

In Talend Studio, you can define the parameters of your current JVM before executing your Job or Route according to your needs.

The default parameters -Xms256M and -Xmx1024M correspond respectively to the minimal and maximal memory sizes reserved for your Job or Route executions. Edit these parameters to meed your specific needs.

To specify these parameters globally in Talend Studio, see Debug and Job execution preferences (Talend > Run/Debug).

Procedure

  1. In the Run view, in the Advanced settings tab, select the Use specific JVM arguments check box.
  2. Click the New button and then, in the Set the VM Argument dialog box that opens, enter the argument to use.
For example, to successfully execute a Job that handles an Excel file containing a million records, you may want to specify -Xmx8192M to increase the maximum VM memory size to 8 GB.
  3. Click OK to add the argument.
