Generating and exporting a report Job

Talend Studio makes it simple for you to generate and export a Job on any of the reports listed in the Profiling perspective.

This feature adds all of the files required to execute the Job to an archive, including the Windows .bat file or Linux .sh file along with any context parameter files or other related files. You can then deploy the Job on any server and use it to execute the report periodically independent of Talend Studio. You can, for example, deploy the Job on the Talend Administration Center web application and execute it remotely without having to open Talend Studio.

Before you begin

A report is created in the Profiling perspective.

Procedure

  1. In the DQ Repository tree view, expand Data Profiling > Reports.
  2. Right-click the report on which you want to generate a Job and select Build Report Job... from the contextual menu.
A Build Job dialog box is displayed.
Overview of the Build Job dialog box.
You can show and hide a tree view of all created Jobs in Talend Studio directly from the dialog box by clicking Show job tree and Hide job tree respectively.
A Job that has the exact name of the report you select in the Profiling perspective is created and listed, with a selected check box. This accessibility helps you to modify the item(s) you want to export directly from the dialog box.
  3. Set the parameters to build and export the report Job and then click Finish.
Information noteImportant: The Items check box must be selected to be able to run the exported Job correctly.
For detailed information about what options to select and what parameters to set, see Building Jobs.
A zipped file for the Job is created in the defined folder and a Job with the tDqReportRun component is created and listed in the Integration perspective of Talend Studio. For further information about generating Jobs to launch reports, see Generating Jobs from reports.

Results

Executing a report from outside Talend Studio using a report Job will save the analysis results in the report database (data mart) and show these results in the report file that is generated but it will not update the analysis summary in the repository. For further information, see Creating a new report.
