Remote Engines allow you to run tasks that use on-premises applications and databases.
Outbound communication between Talend Cloud Management Console and Remote Engines is fully secured as data is not staged.
Data Service and Route tasks can only be deployed on Remote Engines.
Local to cloud / cloud to local data transfer
Upload a local file (for example, an excel or CSV file listing new customers) to a cloud application (for example, Marketo). In this case, Remote Engines are within your data center with access to the needed resources (local file system, databases and so on) and the data ends up directly in the destination cloud application (like Marketo or Salesforce) without going through Talend Cloud Management Console, as the communication is only outbound.
Local to local data transfer
Upload a local file (an excel or CSV file listing new customers, for example) to a local application (for example, a local SAP system).
Customer cloud to SaaS cloud data transfer
Update cloud-based SaaS applications (for example, Salesforce) with the latest Map/Reduce results (for example, using Hive or HBase Query) and the information stored in another cloud application (for example, Amazon or Google Cloud). In this case, no local corporate network is involved and Talend Cloud Management Console only receives some metadata.
