Metamodel attribute types

The modeling process starts by defining reusable attribute types.

Attribute types are predefined or user-defined properties which are associated with object types to build data standardization among these objects.

An attribute can be of any basic type such as integer, string, date or enumeration. More interactive types exist like email, web URL or phone number, which allow you to send an email for example from the implemented model when it is populated.

When an attribute type has been used in an instance, you cannot change its data type.

When you save the changes after a deletion of an attribute, Talend Data Catalog removes it entirely from the repository, including all metadata objects which contain it. All instantiated objects lose this attribute value assignment of that type. You cannot reverse the deletion of an attribute after saving the changes.

All license editions allow to edit custom attributes from the Manage Metamodel page.
