Importing workflows in the MDM perspective

Talend Studio enables you to import workflows from MDM server or zip files in MDM perspective. Once imported, you can automatically generate Processes based on these workflows. For more information on how to generate a Process based on a workflow, see Generating a workflow execution Process.

Before you begin

You have already connected to the MDM server from the Talend Studio. One or more workflows have been exported from the MDM perspective.

About this task

To import one or more workflows from MDM server to the current MDM repository, do the following:

Procedure

  1. In the MDM Repository tree view, right-click the Workflow node and select Import Server Objects from MDM Server from the contextual menu.
  2. Click the [...] button next to the Select Server field. A dialog box appears, prompting you to select a server location from which the server objects will be imported.
  3. Select the desired server and click OK.
  4. Select Deselect all. Then, expand the Workflow node and select one or more workflows you want to import.
  5. Click Finish to validate your changes.

What to do next

The imported workflows will be displayed under the Workflow node in the MDM Repository tree view.

To import one or more workflows from zip files into the current MDM repository, do the following:

  1. In the MDM Repository tree view, right-click the Workflow node and select Import Items from the contextual menu.

    The Import Repository Items dialog box appears.

  2. Select the root directory or archive file option according to whether the workflows you want to import are saved in a folder or an archive file and then click the [...] button next to the option.

    A dialog box appears.

  3. Browse to the folder or archive file holding the data models and click OK or Open to close the dialog box.

  4. In the Import Repository Items dialog box, click Finish to validate your changes and close the dialog box.

    The imported workflows will be displayed under the Workflow node in the MDM Repository tree view.
