Enabling notifications for model changes

Enabling the notifications

You have been assigned a global role with the Application Administration capability.

To enable this notification type, you need to:
  • configure the email server in the Manage Email Notification page,
  • enable the Watcher notifications option in the Manage Email Notification page,
  • assign watchers to the model from its object page.

Administrators can add watchers to the model or users can start watching the model.

Watchers need to provide a valid email address, set the notification frequency and have at least an object role with the Watcher Editing capability.

This feature is available for imported technical models and custom business models. It is available only at the model level or at the sub-model level if it is a multi model.

Watchers of imported models

If you are a watcher of an imported model, you receive an email per model and per type of activity:
  • after an import (with incremental harvesting) is successful with changes at any level or failed. The email includes change summary statistics such as the number of added, deleted and updated objects and a link to a report with a model version comparator.
  • for other changes at any lower level as often as defined by the server or the user. The email includes change summary statistics, the top 5 changed objects and the detailed changes with links to reports in Talend Data Catalog.

Watchers of business models

If you are a watcher of a business model, data or semantic mapping or physical data model, you receive an email per model for any changes at any level as often as defined by the server or the user. The email includes change summary statistics, the top 5 changed objects and the detailed changes with links to reports in Talend Data Catalog.

The watchers can be also notified for any data profiling and sampling errors when:
  • the data profiling and sampling was invoked by an import new version of model(s) scheduled operation.
  • the data profiling and sampling was invoked by an import model operation manually started from an expired user session.
