Data Preparation: new features

From Talend Studio 8, you must use the Installing features using the Feature Manager to install Talend Data Preparation features and components.

Magic Fill improvements	As part of the substring type transformations, the Magic Fill function can now handle acronyms. You can convert names, units or expressions, regardless of the case, to their abbreviated forms, and decide on how to separate characters and which case to use in the output column. Improved standardization possibilities	The Standardize value function can now be applied to columns based on compound semantic types, and not only dictionary types. In the same way, when editing a value in the grid, suggestions will now be also available in columns based on compound semantic types, in addition to dictionaries. Normalize values extracted by semantic types	When using the Extract values by semantic type function, it is now possible to replace the extracted value with the value in the dictionary by using the Normalize value option.	All Talend Platform and Data Fabric products

Improved filtering in preparations	You can now benefit from improved filtering capabilities when working on a preparation. In addition to the global search, you can use the Add filter button to specifically select a column, an operator, and the keywords to look for. This makes the creation and combining of filters more intuitive and powerful.	All subscription-based Talend products with Talend Studio
Force the semantic type of a column	When changing the semantic type of a column in a preparation, you are no longer limited to the types that have the highest matching percentage. If the semantic type that you want to apply is not listed in the suggestions, you can directly browse and search for it.	All Talend Platform and Data Fabric products
