Model

Functional parameter definition of the replication (distribution) of several tables/messages independent of a given target.

This is a functional concept of the model. The model is distributed to one or more targets of potentially different natures. Any modification made to the model is automatically applied to all the related distributions (self-deployment). The transformation module is fully capable of taking into account the nature of the target, or simply referring to its name to perform different procedures.

In an AS/400 IBMi source, since such a model as JOURNAL/BACKUP is based on an IBMi journal, it cannot access several journals simultaneously. However, several models can use the same journal.

For a non-AS/400 IBMi source, the model is always based on a database or schema. However, several models can use the same database/schema. For an ODBC source, the model is based on an ODBC DSN (Data Source Name) or on a directory to extract the text files. In object language, the model can be compared to a class, and distributions can be compared to the instances of a model class.
